This Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") describes how Hampton VC LLC ("Hampton," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you access or use the Hampton website located at joinhampton.com, the Hampton member portal at members.myhampton.com, and any related services (collectively, the "Site"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meanings set forth in our Terms and Conditions available at joinhampton.com/terms (the "Terms").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

We collect personal information you voluntarily provide when you:

  • Apply for membership or create an account, including: your full name, email address, phone number, billing address, city/state/country of residence, gender identity, LinkedIn URL, your company name, your company's website URL, your role and title, industry vertical, number of employees, business model, sales model, revenue run rate, funding model, funding stage, areas of expertise, and any other information requested on our application forms.

  • Create a Member Profile, including professional background, accomplishments, interests, and profile photos.

  • Participate in community features, including messages posted in our Slack workspace, community portal, discussion forums, group chats, and event interactions.

  • Make a purchase, including credit card or debit card information and billing details.

  • Contact us, including the content of your inquiry and any information you choose to provide.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device and browser information: browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and language preferences.

  • Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, referring/exit URLs, and interaction patterns.

  • Network information: IP address, internet service provider, and approximate geographic location.

  • Identifiers: cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and similar technologies that assign unique identifiers to your browser or device (see Section 6 for details).

1.3 Information from Third Parties

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "Sensitive Information" includes credit/debit card details, revenue and financial data about your business, funding information, and any other information classified as sensitive under applicable law. We handle Sensitive Information with additional safeguards as described in this policy.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing our services: processing membership applications, managing your account, facilitating community interactions, and delivering events and perks.
  • Member directory and profiles: displaying your Member Profile to other members via the Member List and Member Map (you control what information is visible through your account settings).
  • Communications: sending service-related notices, membership updates, event invitations, and responding to your inquiries.
  • Marketing: sending promotional messages about Hampton products, services, and curated third-party offers we believe may interest you (you can opt out at any time).
  • Analytics and improvement: understanding how our Site and services are used, identifying trends, and improving the member experience.
  • Advertising: measuring the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns across platforms (see Section 6).
  • Security and fraud prevention: protecting our members, detecting and preventing unauthorized access, and enforcing our Terms.
  • Legal compliance: meeting our legal obligations, responding to legal process, and protecting our rights.

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Other Members

Your Member Profile information is visible to other Hampton members through the Member List and Member Map. Member Profiles are not visible to non-members. You can manage what information appears in your profile through your account settings.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Payment processing: Stripe and other payment processors handle your credit/debit card transactions. We do not store your full payment card information on our servers.
  • Customer relationship management: HubSpot for managing member communications and data.
  • Community platform: Slack for member communication and community features.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and other platforms for measuring and optimizing our marketing (see Section 6).
  • Email and communications: service providers that help us send emails, SMS messages, and other communications.
  • Event management: platforms that facilitate scheduling and event coordination.

These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide their services to us and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
  • Enforce our Terms, including investigating potential violations
  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of Hampton, our members, or the public

Where permitted by law, we will provide you with notice prior to disclosing your information in response to a subpoena or similar legal process.

3.4 Business Transfers

If Hampton is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on the Site of any change in ownership or use of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have.

3.5 With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

3.6 Aggregate and De-Identified Data

We may share aggregate or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for any lawful purpose, including research, analytics, and marketing.


4. Your Privacy Rights

4.1 All Users

Regardless of where you reside, you may:

  • Update or correct your personal information through your account settings or by contacting us
  • Delete your personal information by submitting a request to help@joinhampton.com (residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period)
  • Opt out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email or by contacting us

4.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to Know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which it was collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.

  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete the personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions.

  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

  • Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. To exercise this right, email us at help@joinhampton.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information."

  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: You may request that we limit our use of your sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide our services.

  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

4.3 Nevada Residents

If you are a Nevada resident, you may opt out of the sale of your personal information by emailing help@joinhampton.com.

4.4 Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Utah, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, and opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information. To exercise any applicable rights, contact us at help@joinhampton.com.

4.5 International Users

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.

Please note: if you are a resident of, or physically located in, the United Kingdom or a European Union Member State, you are not permitted to use the Site or any Hampton services.


5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • Active members: for the duration of your membership and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfill legal, accounting, or reporting obligations.
  • Former members: for up to 3 years following the end of your membership, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
  • Applicants who did not become members: for up to 2 years following your application.
  • Marketing data: until you opt out or request deletion.
  • Financial/transaction records: as required by applicable tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years).
  • Cookie and tracking data: see Section 6.

When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.

6.1 Technologies We Use

6.3 Do Not Track

There is no uniform standard for responding to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We do not currently respond to DNT signals, but you can use the opt-out mechanisms described above.

6.4 Consent Through Use

By accessing the Site and continuing to use it, you acknowledge and consent to the use of the tracking technologies listed in Section 6.1 and to the collection, transmission, and processing of data described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to the use of these tracking technologies, do not use the Site. Your election to limit optional tracking through the mechanisms described in Section 6.2 does not affect your ability to use the Site.

6.5 Disputes Regarding Data Handling

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising under or relating to the collection, use, sharing, processing, or retention of data under this Privacy Policy is governed by the dispute-resolution provisions, including the pre-dispute notice requirements, informal resolution requirements, arbitration agreement, class-action waiver, governing law, and venue, set forth in the Terms and Conditions. By using the Site, you agree that any such dispute will proceed in accordance with those provisions and will not be brought as a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action.

6.6 Substantiation of Data-Handling Claims

If you believe your data has been collected, used, shared, or processed in violation of this Privacy Policy or applicable law, you must provide us with all of the following as part of your pre-dispute notice under the Terms and Conditions:

  1. A complete, unedited copy of the data forming the basis of your claim;
  2. A detailed written explanation specifying the nature of the alleged violation, the date(s) on which it occurred, the URLs accessed, the device and browser used, and the IP address(es) used to access the Site if known;
  3. The legal theory or theories on which the claim is based; and
  4. A description of the harm alleged.

This requirement is intended to enable a meaningful investigation of any alleged violation and shall not be construed to limit any rights you have under applicable law. The exercise of rights described in Section 4 of this Privacy Policy (including CCPA/CPRA rights) is governed by the procedures specified in Section 4, not by this Section 6.6.


7. Security

We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of sensitive data in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
  • Access controls limiting employee and contractor access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular security assessments and monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. Any transmission of data is at your own risk.

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulatory agencies as required by law, typically within 72 hours of discovering the breach (or as otherwise required by applicable state law). Notification may be delayed to address law enforcement needs or determine the scope of the breach.


8. Children

The Site is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will promptly delete it. 9. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including vendor websites, perk provider websites, and partner platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party website you visit.


10. Text Messaging and Communications

If you provide your phone number and consent to receive text messages from Hampton, messages may be sent via automated technology. Standard message and data rates may apply.

  • You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
  • Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
  • If your phone number changes, please notify us promptly at help@joinhampton.com.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify members via email of significant changes
  • Post a notice on the Site

Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
