About Hampton
Hampton is a private network for high-growth founders running tech-enabled companies with $3M+ in revenue.
Our members are ambitious builders scaling successful companies. They want more than tactical advice or transactional networking. They want depth, and they want peers who truly get it. They want a place to talk about the wins, the screwups, the quiet doubts, and the "okay... what now?"
They're scaling businesses, but they also know their next 10x comes from improving as leaders. That's why they join Hampton. We accelerate their growth.
At the center of Hampton are Core groups: small, hand-curated circles of founders who meet in person every month. They work through their hardest challenges, trade unfiltered feedback, and hold each other accountable in a way only true peers can.
The Role
NOTE: This is not a community manager role. You're not a moderator or a hall monitor. You're a talented writer with a real personality, someone who can hold their own with a room full of founders and maybe even make them laugh.
Every day, more than a thousand successful founders use Hampton's private Slack to trade stories, swap tools, admit mistakes, and solve problems you won't find in any business book. It's the best source material a founder newsletter could have. And it's your secret weapon.
This is a unique role. Here's how it works:
- You start conversations in Slack. You ask the question everyone's thinking, post the spicy take, and nudge a quiet thread until it gets going.
- The best conversations become the newsletters. That includes real problems, real fixes, and real outcomes from real members.
- Members see themselves featured, feel recognized, and post more.
- Repeat.
You'll own two weekly newsletters from end to end:
- Five on Friday (public): Five sharp tips, tools, or finds from our community, sent to a wider audience. It's often the first taste of Hampton for founders who aren't members yet.
- The Hampton Dispatch (members only): A roundup of the best member conversations from Slack, from tricky problems to hard-won answers. Members should feel they'd miss something if they skipped it.
What You'll Do
- Write and send both newsletters every week. You'll handle ideas, drafting, editing, and sending. Copy should be clean, on time, and unmistakably Hampton.
- Get people talking in Slack. Examples:
- Weekly prompts like "Worst hire you ever made. Go."
- Polls, hot takes, and the occasional friendly provocation
- Follow-up questions in threads that bring out the details worth featuring
- DMs to members to get the full story behind a great thread
- Make niche founder topics fun to read. Write advice on audits and AI for a very narrow, very high-end audience, while still holding space as the most entertaining thing in someone's inbox.
- Protect member trust. You'll be working with private conversations from high-profile founders, so you'll need to know what can be shared, what needs permission, and what never leaves the room. You'll get members' sign-off before featuring them in anything public.
- Keep improving the numbers. Test subject lines, layouts, and formats, and push open and click-through rates up every quarter.
- Grow membership and retention. Members should treat the newsletters as indispensable, and prospects should find them irresistible.
How We'll Know It's Working
- Every email is worth opening. We open each one because we want to, and we get real value from what's inside.
- The metrics move. Opens and clicks go up, prospects become members, and members talk about the newsletters in Slack.
- Slack gets livelier. There are more good conversations, more members featured, and more reactions to what you post.
- It sounds like Hampton. It's authentic, useful, and entertaining. We're cheeky, not mean.
Who You Are
- A very good writer. Ideally you have about 3 years of experience, but a body of work strong enough that we forget to ask also counts. You might come from marketing, editorial, or the Creator world. We care more about how you write than where you've worked.
- Entertaining and informative. You can make dry topics funny and you know where the line is.
- Comfortable with high-powered people. You can talk to a founder with a nine-figure company without losing your cool.
- Discreet. People trust you with sensitive information, and you keep that trust.
- Into founder culture. You're solid on business and tech concepts and actually enjoy this world.
- A self-starter. After a reasonable ramp-up, you won't need much oversight.
- Fluent with AI tools. We don't want the newsletters written by AI, but AI can handle a lot of the work behind the scenes.
